Overview
Venezuela Strong is a bilingual, scroll-driven experience built after Venezuela’s June 24, 2026 earthquakes. It turns a fast-moving humanitarian story into something people can feel — and act on — with a verified worldwide donation finder nested inside the narrative.
Recognition
Nominated on Awwwards (July 26, 2026) for balancing craft and urgency: cinematic Three.js storytelling without losing the practical path from awareness to aid. View the Awwwards listing
The challenge
After twin magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 shocks, diaspora communities needed trustworthy information — not another unverified fundraiser. The product had to hold grief and clarity at once: what happened, who was affected, and where donations actually help.
Approach
A scroll-driven Three.js narrative walks the “39 seconds” between ruptures beat by beat, then opens into a living terrain map and on-the-ground reporting. Canvas-drawn share cards bake the current toll into ready-to-post graphics so awareness can travel with the facts.
The second half is operational: a location-aware finder for verified drop-offs and trusted organizations, plus guidance on what to give — and what not to send — so help doesn’t clog the pipeline.
Craft notes
- Bilingual storytelling for diaspora and international audiences
- WebGL / Three.js scenes paced for reduced-motion and accessibility (captions, alt text, WCAG AA contrast)
- Verified sourcing and credited media — no AI-generated disaster imagery
- Share tools and donation routing designed to convert attention into concrete aid
Live
The site is live at venezuelastrong.org — an Awwwards nominee that treats relief communication as product design: honest, visual, and actionable.
